This week things were picking up and labor saw some HUGE wins that set us on the path to maintaining the progress made in the past two General assembly sessions. We defeated lots of bad bills meant to set us back and forged ahead on some great legislation that would give thousands of working families across the Commonwealth new and much needed and deserved worker protections. Check out this week's highlights:

Highlights

Defeated Bad Bills/Bad Bills That Went Away for Year:

  • Attacks on Voting Rights (SB 390/ SB 605)

  • Attacks on PLAs (HB 888/ SB 374)

  • Attacks on Public Employee Unions/Bargaining (SB 374/ SB 721)

  • Attack on Prevailing Wage (SB 374)

  • Attack on Teachers' Due Process Rights (SB 178)

  • Bill to make it easier to misclassify workers (HB 529)

Good Bills That Advanced:

  • Paid Sick Leave for Grocery Store and Healthcare Workers (SB 352/ SB 624)

Good Bills That Passed One Chamber:

  • Workers' Comp Notice Protection for Workers (SB 226)

  • School Construction Funding (SB 37/ SB 298/ SB 472)

Also, HB 1220 (Repeal of Right to Work) was on the House Rules docket Thursday afternoon but was not heard- we are unsure why that is.

Still, with our wins, there's still lots of work to be done! Will you join us in our efforts? Sign up to virtually lobby with us this session -- the more labor activists we have, the better!
